In 1965 SOUR „Farmes“ Sarajevo was founded on the terittory of 220m2 with 10 employees.
On April 4th, 1977 OOUR Krajinalijek Banjaluka was founded and it operated within RO Farmes Sarajevo. In 1986 a production department for paper products, cellulose wadding and hospital bed pads was established in Čelinac in the vicinity of Banjaluka.
Since 1989, Krajinalijek a.d., with its headquarters placed in Banjaluka, has been operating as an independent enterprise for trading of medicines and other medical products and its business activities has been performed in business premises of 5224m2, specially designed and built for its business purpose at the adrress Ilije Garašanina No. 6. At the time, Krajinalijek had 130 employees and its own fleet vehicle.
On May 20th, 1991 the holding company Krajinalijek d.d. Banjaluka was registered with 42% private capital and was making the average monthly turnover of 4.5 million DEM. During that business year the company made a profit of 780.000 DEM.
The joint-stock company ‚‚Krajinalijek‚‚ a.d. Banjaluka was registered on September 14th, 2001. Despite of a very difficult market situation and poor financial state of Public Health to which Krajinalijek is bound by its strategic programs, the company was making the average monthly turnover increased by 65%.
On September 4th, 2003 the public part of the shares was sold to the majority shareholder whereby Krajinalijek a.d. has been privatized.
‚‚Krajinalijek‚‚ a.d Banjaluka nowadays represents many pharmaceutical companies known worldwide. It has got a developed distribution network, covering the teritorry of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The company employs 137 persons within its two business units, one in Banjaluka and the other one in Istočno Sarajevo.
